#LAZoobilation-Recap!

Today was a very good day at the La Purchase Gardens and Zoo. The morning started with the RunWild 5k put on by Dirty South Running www.dirtysouthrunning.com

Check out all the people!!!
A couple of hundred runners got to run in and out of the park amongst all the zoo animals.
It finished and started at the new Splash Park. This race will def go down in the history books because it was my sister Holly's first time to RUN an entire 5k-YAY!!
She had completed a 5k before, but a lot of walking was involved. This time, "Holly was RUNNING!!' (in my best Forrest Gump voice!!).
It was awesome to experience this with her and to see so many people support her in her goal. (And I thought we looked real cute in our matching green Lemur tanks). I could not of been able to do this with her, if it weren't for Amy Keifenheim who helped set up our booth while I was running.
Amy- you are AMAZING!! She jumped in and stocked the shelves. Big thank you to Mario Knox and Rachel Rose who came out to cheer Holly on. Mario ran with us
and Rachel was at that the finish line ready to give her a big hug.
IT is the best feeling to see other people love my sister like I do!!
Here is a pic of Melanie Dedmon, Clint Downing, Queen Rachel and Holly chilling after the race.

As for the big Zoobilation event, it was a nice steady day. My hat goes off the Heather Morris for working so hard to pull this whole thing off. You Rock Heather!!!
From what I understood, Zoobilation hasn't happened since 2006. You can tell there is def a new positive energy buzzing for the zoo since the splash pad came.
Our booths were set up in the shade near the picnic tables. We were right beside DJ John Reynolds for K-104.
I was neat hearing him broadcast live. Sweet Kelli Green and Alana Babb with Centric
were working the Vendor gate and greeting everyone with a smile. I always love seeing people come by wearing our tees!! Lindsey Webster had on the American Flag tank
and Adorable Abby and Cason had on the matching lemur tees.
I also saw Angel Wilson who had on the blue heron tank with Jennifer Dearman.
I walked over to the Food trucks and grabbed some WingStop and saw my buddy Leah Hawsey.
Leah is a dear friend who has supported us from the very beginning!! (and she looked mighty cute in the green Lemur tank!!)

We saw her and her baseball buddies selling cotton candy and pop corn at the event.
They were set up next to two favs- The Mayeaux's who were their getting the word out about hosting exchange students.

I tried to walk around see all the activities. The Swamp People were their with gators!

I FINALLY got to meet Brooke Foy with Arrow Public Art. She is cool! She is the one who has made the beautiful fun murals happen with the #OneMileofLove on the seawall.
They had a neat booth set up where kids and adults could create their own rock monster/animal/creatures.
I made a funny orange one.
Also got to make a macaroni necklace with Tiffany Olmstead and the Macaroni Kid gang. Macaroni Kid is a wonderful resource to find fun events for your family going on in the area.

Have you ever checked out their website at www.monroela.macaronikid.com? Also saw a couple more sweet ladies from Centric named Kimberly and Charlie who had shopped with us earlier.

Kathy Leonard came by to say hello with Reece and Ransom. Ransom had on the new Lemur tee!! They weren't too pumped about getting their photo taken  HAHAH

There were jumpy things for the kids
And bands playing all day long in the pavilion area by the Food Trucks

I saw Melissa Kiper and some of the friendly Junior Leaguers volunteering their time
Also saw the Lord Family out working the Abby's Idea Lemonade stand. Did you know we designed that special tee for them??
Kids were having a blast at the plash pad!!

And also ran into Kasey in our green Lemur tank and Nikki working the Sassy Kats Arco booth
We appreciated everyone who came to see us like the Matz Family
We are so busy with life and the Two P's, that we do not get to do too many of these events a year...but, when we do, we do try to go all out and set up a very nice booth!

Big Thank you to Robby and Katie Compton for taking care of our kids today. I know they had a blast with you both. Glad to help support one of my favorite places in the Twin Cities!!!

Thanks for reading,
Love
Lissy

*****15% of all Lemur tees and tanks is being donated to help build the Ring Tail Lemurs a new structure to climb on.
